How to sell your art

So, you have a stash of original paintings, drawings etc, or even just a few pieces lying around, and you’re not sure what to do with them? Why not sell them on The Art Spy and make a little cash?

It’s really easy. All you need to do is create a profile as an artist or gallery on The Art Spy, then submit your artwork photo(s), a little info about your artwork(s) and the price(s), and voilâ, your artwork is for sale!

But I’m an amateur artist…

Fantastic! If you’re a student or do painting/drawing/printmaking as a hobby then you probably have lots of artworks hidden away in a studio, spare room or, heaven forbid, the garage. It’s a little sad your hard work and talent isn’t displayed and adored. Give it a new home through The Art Spy so that someone can enjoy your work. You will have the satisfaction of making someone happy along with a little extra cash in your pocket.

I don’t think my art is good enough to sell

Of course it’s good enough. Don’t you remember the saying “Art is in the eye of the beholder”? It’s so true! Even basic so-called “child-like” art can become famous – art galleries are full of it. If you enjoyed creating the art, you can be assured there is someone out there who will enjoy looking at it.

I’m too young or too old to sell my art

Nonsense. If you’re under 18, then you will need a parent’s ok. And if you’re retired, good on you! It’s never too late to do something you love and earn money for it. Perhaps you could make enough dosh to take that holiday you always wanted to go on … or buy new painting gear!

I’m not very tech savvy?

If you’re not confident filling out online forms to submit your art, don’t worry. Simply let us know. Email and we can do it all for you. The only thing you will need to do is take a clear photo of your work, or get someone you know to do it for you. Read more on how to take a photo of your artwork, here.

Do you take a commission?

The Art Spy will receive a small commission of 20% of the sold price of each piece of art. This is much smaller than other gallery sites – many take 30-50% commission! This amount covers access to the gallery and the admin of placing your works on the site, promoting them and then sending them on to their new owners.

I have a few more questions…

No worries. Email and ask away.
